At first i was not clear enough about what “Integrity in research” mean exactly ,yes I had a clue but i was not clear enough. After reading several posts about integrity in research and literature on it i found the clear idea on what is it about. I asked 2 of my classmates as well and they had different opinions about it. According to University of Leicester (2014) research integrity means doing research in a way which allows others to have trust and confidence in your methods, your findings and any publications based on your research. I believe that University need to play a role in making sure that students do their research correctly. I personally like how Physiotherapy 4th year students at the University of the Western Cape used to do their research in the past, each group conducting a research had a supervisor who was there to give guidance unlike now whereby students do their research in a different way with 1 lecturer. This makes me agree with one of the publishers opinion,ATIAR RAHMAN ARIF that ” The University has an institutional responsibility to ensure integrity and ethical practice in the conduct of research ” I strongly agree with this publishers post because it is important to maintain the standard and University reputation.

Hi Sinethemba, I like how you went and asked people on their different opinions regarding integrity in research and how you relate it to personal experiences regarding the research proposal. In your introduction you explain what research integrity means, which gave me a better idea of what research integrity entails. I do think you can explain more about what you think it is and what you’ve found from the articles and posts you’ve read to formulate your own opinion on what integrity in research means to you.
Furthermore, you have only presented one reference explaining more the definition of research integrity, I think you can do more research on the topic that not only explains the definition, but also a variety of different ideas or concepts regarding research integrity.
The flow of your writing piece was good and I could understand the point you were trying to make with regards to the Universities that need to make sure of what we write is of good quality with the necessary guidance, which corresponds with the topic of research integrity. That was a good point you’ve stated.
In future just make sure to make use of more referencing (in-text and a list) and thank you for sharing your writing piece.
