Hi from Martina

Hi, my name is Martina Kaufmann and I study physiotherapy-mensendieck at the Oslo Metropolitan University (2ndyear). This international exchange program between undergraduate students is really a good chance to lift my nose out of the books and reflect in praxis about cultural and educational similarities and differences in the field of physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy is my second education path and I have worked in the field of culture, contemporary art and cultural exchange for quite some years. Parallel I have always worked with cultivation of movement and its impact on people performing it, especially through the practice of Taiji and Qigong. Some years ago I came to the point that I wanted to intensify my studies of this movement impact on people and I chose to give physiotherapy a chance. Until now I have not regretted that choice (despite of in examination times….).

In my spare time I love to go for long walks with my dog in the woods, go to the theatres and movies, read and meet friends for long dinners with talks about nothing and everything. During the last weeks my friends and me have discussed about what rehabilitation means for persons who experience functional disability (visible or invisible) and what it means to be different. How do I as a human being react in meeting persons with different challenges and how do I want to react as a physiotherapist-to-be?

I hope that our exchange through this international program will help me and you in finding and strengthening our professional positions.
