Hi everyone
I’m Shamila, a Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator in the Physiotherapy Department at UWC. I’m excited to be visiting OlsoMet and I’m really looking forward to getting to know you. What a great opportunity this is!
As a Clinical Coordinator I am responsible for placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students at various clinical sites within the Western Cape, the province in which I live. I ensure that all 3rd and 4th year students rotate through all clinical areas and that all students receive adequate clinical supervision and support. I teach 4th year Applied Physiotherapy. My area of expertise is adult cardiopulmonary rehabilitation in the intensive care units. I also teach 2nd years the theory of clinical practice. I have great passion for clinical education.
I am a registered PhD student working on developing a framework for the inclusion of a behaviour medicine perspective in undergraduate physiotherapy curriculum at UWC.
On a personal note: I have been happily married for 25 years. I have 3 children. My eldest son is 23 years old. He just completed his Bachelors Degree in Commerce and started his 1st job 2 days ago. My daughter is 21 years old and is a 3rd year law student. My youngest son is 15 years and at high school. I enjoy walks on the beach and I’m an active rugby and cricket supporter.
Looking forward to visiting Oslo.
