Genadendal Outreach is a programme that was initiated by the Interprofessional Education department the CHS faculty. The programme involves different departments in the faculty, where students spend time in Genadendal giving back to the community. Genadendal is a rural community about 1.5 hours outside of Cape Town.
In their last visit, the students set up a clinic where the Nurses, Chinese Medicine, Dietetics and Physiotherapy students assisted community members with general screening and advice for their conditions. Prof. Nondwe Mlenzana and postgraduate student Tarryn Jeftha were on hands to represent the department. Thank you to them and all of our students for their effort.
Since the visit was such a success, the University will be having a second visit around mid-September 2019. We hope to serve the community once again.
