COVID-19 has put us off for quite some time, but it’s about time we start returning to our normal lives. On the 15th of October, half of the third year class returned to the University of the Western Cape – Bellville Medical Campus for Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. It has been seven months since the third years has gathered together, for class.
Given the limited space, the training could only cater for 40 students (which was about half of the class). In this PPE training, the class learnt how to gear themselves up (donning and doffing) with once-off aprons, visors, facemasks, N95’s and gloves.
We also had a guest speaker Ms Lauren Golden, who currently works at a private practice to speak about returning to private practice clinical setting.
We wish the third years all the best, as they will return to the clinical setting around mid-November.
